What does your role in the team look like?
Independently conducting and coordinating ecological surveys and advisory processes. This is the core of your work. You prepare reports, management plans, and biodiversity plans, carry out flora and fauna quick scans and species-specific surveys, and guide exemption processes. In doing so, you advise on ecological feasibility and maintain contact with clients. Do you identify commercial opportunities or additional work within existing relationships? Then you take action yourself.
In addition to your own projects, you coach and mentor junior ecologists and other colleagues, and actively contribute to knowledge development and quality improvement within the field. At Pius Floris, you work in a driven team of European Tree Technicians, tree appraisers, and ecologists, with colleagues at both higher professional and university levels. The organization is flat and accessible, with strong collaboration between branches and plenty of personal contact with clients. You report to Senior Ecologist Clarice Hoogervorst.

One-year contract at Pius Floris in Nieuwkuijk (with prospect of permanent employment).
40 hours per week (32 hours is also possible).
€4.250 to €5.830 gross per month.

What are you bringing?
HBO or WO education in ecology, biology, forest and nature management, or similar. Supplemented with at least three years of relevant work experience as an ecologist. You also have a B driver's license.
Experience with species-specific surveys, flora and fauna surveys, and ecological consultancy. As well as bat, swift, and house sparrow research.
Knowledge of the Environment and Planning Act, relevant legislation and regulations, and GIS systems such as QGIS.
Advisory-skilled and results-oriented: you translate complex ecological issues into practical solutions, monitor project progress, and take ownership.
Strong communication skills and coaching: you switch smoothly between clients and colleagues, actively share knowledge, and support others in their development.
